Like other martial arts, Jiu Jitsu has a belt ranking system for adults and juveniles. At Lake Arrowhead Jiu Jitsu, we honor this ranking system to help our students track their progress and proficiency.
Kids Ranking System
15 Years of Age and Younger
⚪️ White Belt
The first promotion for our students is White Belt.
Grey/White ➩ Grey ➩ Grey/Black Belt
The second promotion for our children is the Grey Belt.
Yellow/White ➩ Yellow ➩ Yellow/Black Belt
The Yellow Belt is the following promotion students can earn. Students must be between the ages of 7 and 15. This is an intermediate level for kids.
Orange/White ➩ Orange ➩ Orange/Black Belt
Orange Belt is the next promotion. Students must be between the ages of 10 and 15. Orange Belt is an intermediate level.
Green/White ➩ Green ➩ Green/Black Belt
Students who are promoted to Green Belt must show control when drilling and remain calm under pressure. Green Belt students are at an advanced level. Students must be between the ages of 13 and 15. Students who achieve a Green Belt qualify for their Adult Blue Belt after they turn 16.
Adult Ranking System
16 Years of Age and Older
⚪️ White Belt
The first promotion for our students is White Belt.
🔵 Blue Belt
Students must be at least 16 years old.
🟣 Purple Belt
To earn a Purple Belt, students must spend a minimum of two years training as a Blue Belt. Students who are Purple Belt should have a strong understanding of the sport.
🟤 Brown Belt
Brown Belts must spend a minimum of 1.5 years training as a Purple Belt and be at least 18 years old. These athletes should have developed their own personal style as a martial artist.
⚫️ Black Belt
Students who earn a Black Belt will have a lot of dedication to the sport, have spent a lot of time and hard work, and have a commitment to the Lake Arrowhead Jiu Jitsu community. Black Belts must have spent a minimum of 1 year training as a Brown Belt. Earning a Black Belt will take a student around 10 years of training to earn.
